लीची हमेशा तरोताज़ा रहने वाले ऊँचे पेड़ों पर लगती है। घनी हरी पत्तियों के बीच गहरे लाल रंग के बड़े-बड़े गुच्छों में लटके लीची के फल देखते ही बनते हैं। ये पेड़ उष्ण अथवा शीतोष्ण कटिबन्धों में बहुतायत से पाए जाते हैं, जहाँ लीची को पकने के लिए पर्याप्त गरमी मिलती है। पहली शताब्दी में दक्षिण चीन से प्रारंभ होने वाली लीची की खेती आज थाइलैंड, बांग्लादेश, उत्तर भारत, दक्षिण अफ्रीका, हवाई और फ्लोरिडा तक फैल चुकी है। इन प्रदेशों की जलवायु लीची के लिए उपयुक्त पाई गई है।

 

यह छोटे आकार का और पतले लेकिन छोटे, मोटे और नरम काँटों से भरे छिलके वाला फल है। इसका छिलका पहले लाल रंग का होता है और अच्छी तरह पक जाने पर थोड़े गहरे रंग का हो जाता है। अन्दर खूब मुलायम पारदर्शी से सफ़ेद रंग का मोती की तरह चमकदार गूदा होता है जो स्वादिष्ट और स्वास्थ्यवर्धक होता है। इस गूदे के अंदर गहरे भूरे रंग का एक बड़ा बीज होता है जो खाने के काम नहीं आता।

 

अन्य फलों की तरह लीची भी पौष्टिक तत्वों का भंडार है। इसमें विटामिन सी, पोटैशियम और नैसर्गिक शक्कर की भरमार होती है। साथ ही पानी की मात्रा भी काफी होती है। गरमी में खाने से यह शरीर में पानी के अनुपात को संतुलित रखते हुए ठंडक भी पहुँचाता है। दस लीचियों से हमें लगभग ६५ कैलोरी मिलती हैं। ज़्यादा समय न टिक पाने की वजह से इसे एक बार पकने के बाद जल्दी खा लेना चाहिए। इसका स्वाद थोड़ा गुलाब और अंगूर से मिलता जुलता पर अनोखा ज़रूर है। आज कल यह बंद डब्बों में भी मिलने लगी है।

 

रम्बूटान नामक एक और फल लीची की ही सूरत, स्वाद और गुणों वाला होता है। लेकिन इसका आकार थोड़ा बड़ा होता है और इसके छिलके पर रेशे होते हैं। इन रेशों के कारण ही इसको मलेशियन भाषा में रम्बूटान कहा गया। रम्बूटान का अर्थ उनकी भाषा में बाल है। यह दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया का फल है और इसे अपेक्षाकृत अधिक गर्मी और नमी की आवश्यकता होती है।

 

लीची को शर्बत, फ्रूटसलाद और आइसक्रीम के साथ खाने का रिवाज़ लगभग सारी दुनिया में है लेकिन चीन में इसे अनेक मांसाहारी व्यंजनों के साथ सम्मिलित किया जाता है। चीनी संस्कृति में लीची का महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है। नये साल की फल और मेवों की थाली में इसका होना महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है। यह घनिष्ठ पारिवारिक संबंधों की प्रतीक समझी जाती है।

UTTAM AAKINCHANY (PERFECT SENSE OF NON ATTACHMENT). to have a feeling of alone -ness amongst all mundane relations is Aakinchan Dharama .really, happiness is not elsewhere but within one-self in alone-ness.
to reflect on the true nature of our Veetaraagataa , by giving up all attachment and aversion and by having a feeling of alone -ness ,is the grandeur of Aakinchan Dharama .
look how ignorant is this mundane -being that he is always afraid of death and he always desires to have happiness but only desire can not bring happiness.no one can escape death because of fear of death. in spite of this, this mundane being under the influence of fear and sexual perversion, puts himself in trouble.
ACTUALLY ,unless there is a realization that this body is not mine, we continue to have attachment with it. there fore ,we are not able to get rid of death nor we get the bliss of salvation.

a) This assists us in detaching from external possessions. b) This assists us in being unattached from our internal attachments: false belief, anger, pride, deceit, greed, laughter, liking, disliking, lamentation, fear, disgust, male sexual desire, female sexual desire and hybrid sexual desire. Ridding the soul of these leads to its purification.

उक्त क्षमा आदि -आठ धर्म-साधन रूप धर्म होते हैं, जिनके अंगीकार करने पर साध्य रूप धर्म-आकिंचन्य और ब्रह्मचर्य की उपलब्धि स्वयंमेव हो जाती है। जब कोई साधक क्रोध, मान, माया, लोभ एवं पर-पदार्थों का त्याग आदि करते हैं और इनसे जब उनका किंचित भी संबंध नहीं रहता तो, उनकी यह अवस्था स्वाभाविक अवस्था कहलाती है। इसे ही ‘उत्तम आकिंचन्य धर्म’ कहा गया है। पर-पदार्थों से संबंध टूट जाने से जीव का अपनी आत्मा (जिसे ब्रह्म कहा जाता है) में ही रमण होने लगता है। इसे ही ‘उत्तम ब्रह्मचर्य धर्म’ कहा जाता है।

ये ही धर्म के दश लक्षण हैं, जो पर्युषण पर्व के रूप में आकर, न केवल जैनों को, अपितु समूचे प्राणी-जगत को सुख-शांति का सन्देश है

Supreme Non-attachment (Uttam Akinchan Dharma)

Akinchan means Non-attachment; This assists us in detaching from external possessions. Historically ten possession are listed in our scriptures: “land, house, silver, gold, wealth, grain, female servants, male servants, garments and utensils” Remaining unattached from these helps control our desires and leads to an influx of punya karmas.

This assists us in being unattached from our internal attachments: false belief, anger pride, deceit, greed, laughter, liking, disliking, lamentation, fear, disgust, sexual desire. Ridding the soul of these leads to its purification.

Describing the virtue of non-attachment (Akinch Anya Dharma), the great poet Reidhu (Explanation In English Only) :

1. Imagine of the virtue of non-attachment taking the soul as different from the body; soul is a storehouse of knowledge; it is unique; it is colorless; it is blissful; it is superb; it is devoid of senses and is fearless. Such evaluation of soul is ‘Ahnchanya Dharma’ i.e., virtue of non-attachment.

2. To get rid of attachment from all worldly possessions is the vow of non-attachment. To be endowed with the power to meditate upon the four auspicious virtues; viz.

• Maitri –  friendship with all living beings.
• Pramoda - delight at the sight of beings better qualified or more advanced than ourselves on the path of liberation.
• Karuna – compassion for the afflicted.
• Madhyastha – tolerance or indifference to those, who are uncivil or ill behaved; is the vow of internal non-attachment.

To be free from the feeling of allurement for something is the vow of ‘Akinchanya’ (non-attachment); and to have no feeling of possession is the vow of external non-attachment; and to be dedicated to the three jewels -Right belief, Right knowledge and Right conduct, is the vow of ‘Ahnchanya’.

3. The vow of non-attachment puts reins to the mind, which roams, in the strange forest of senses. To give up love for the body is the vow of non-attachment, and to be averse to the worldly enjoyments is also the vow of non-attachment.

4. Where there is not the least attachment equivalent even to a straw, as a rule there is the vow of non-attachment. Where there exists the power of discrimination between self and non-self; where devotion for the five divinities is revealed; where the evil pledges are discarded and where ambition for delicious dishes exists no more, there lies the virtue of non-attachment. A man should meditate upon these in this world

5. The Tirthankaras have attained salvation as a result of and with the assistance of, this virtue of non-attachment. On account of this non-attachment virtue the saints who are devoid of the evils of vicious passions are venerated forever.
