if we try to follow religion without abandoning sensual pleasures , we can not expect full enjoyment, satisfaction and peace.before accepting religious code of conduct , we should a tleast reduce our attachment with pleasure objects.
according to Jainism, there are 10 characteristics also described.
उत्तम क्षमा मार्दव आर्जव भाव हैं.
सत्य शौच संयम ताप त्याग उपाव हैं
आकिंचन ब्रह्मचर्य धरम दश सार हैं.
चाहू गति -दुखते काढि मुक्ति करतार हैं.that means there are ten characteristics of religion 1 uttam kshma or perfect forgiveness,2 uttam mardav or perfect prideless3 uttam aarjav or perfect simplicity. 4 uttam shouch or perfect purifiction. 5uttam satya or perfect truth 6 uttam sanyam or perfect restraint 7 uttam tap or perfect penance 8 uttam tyag or perfect renunciation 9 uttamaakinchan or perfect sense of non attachment 10 uttam brahma charya or perfect celibacy. so in this way if one can follow one character or quality in his life so one by one he will achieve in his life 10 characters. by these he can be liberated himself from the wandering of the samsar and will be set free from all bandages . these 10 characters are the extract of the religion.through them you will able to conquer 4 kashaya -- 1 krodha 2 maan3 maya 4 lobha and 5 paaps 1 hinsa,2 jhooth 3 chori. 4 kusheel 5 parigraha. these kashaya and paaps are the causes of samsar and we wre wandering here and there so in place of them adopt 5 vrattas 1 AHIMSA,2 SATYA, 3 ACHOURYA 4 BRAHMACHARYA 5 APRIGRAHA. THESE vrattas are two types ANUVRTTA AND MAHAVRATTA.
