according to Pantjali the yoga is a science based on experiences and experiments. it is also called by as a religion. but my point of view the yoga is a not religion but it is a philosophy. the religion is one. religion is a VASTU SWABHO DHARMAH. every thing has its own religion, like the agni/fire has hotness, it the nature of fire . and if you are getting in different forms are philosophies. as already mentioned by you that according to budhdhism or hinduism the yoga is in other forms means it is a philosophies but Pantajali had given yoga as a religion.
now a days the yoga is a profession. previously it was a services/ or treatment, it requires perfect practice and try to give guidance in proper way.it must be established as a philosophy
